The Pennington County Sheriffā€™s Office said Jaden White Plume, 23, died on Saturday, July 12 at the water body, which the office described as a popular but challenging to access swimming and cliff jumping spot in the Black Hills.

Authorities were notified around 8 p.m. about a possible drowning at Hippie Hole. White Plume's body was recovered between 10:30 and 11 p.m. during an underwater search by rescue teams. The sheriff's office said the man was entangled in underwater debris. Alcohol was involved in the incident, according to the sheriff's office.

Responding to the emergency were the Pennington County Sheriffā€™s Office, Rockerville Volunteer Fire Department, Rapid City/Pennington County Water Rescue Team, Pennington County Search and Rescue, South °®¶¹app Highway Patrol, Keystone Ambulance, Rapid City Fire Department and South °®¶¹app Game, Fish & Parks.

An investigation into the incident continues.
